PRCS Changes Boundaries
Share/Save

PRCS provided us news that there would be an upcoming meeting (date to be determined) about the below announcement:

When PRCS first opened in 2012, the Los Angeles Unified School District set the school boundaries with two option areas. This allowed for as many Porter Ranch families as possible to enroll in the new school. The area around the school has continued to grow and the middle school is currently at capacity.

Newly enrolling students in Grades 6-8 who live in the yellow area (Porter Ranch Estates) will no longer have PRCS as an option. Frost Middle School will be the resident school for the 2015-2016 school year. However, students in this area who are currently enrolled at PRCS will continue through culmination. If space permits, sibling permits may be available to incoming middle school students in this area.

Students who live in the area designated as K-5 Option to Castlebay Lane or Porter Ranch and Grades 6-8 Option to Frost MS or Porter Ranch (Promenade and Heights) will continue to have this option for the 2015-2016 school year. These areas are optional and as the community continues to grow, they will need to be closed in the future.

Please check the PRCS website for an announcement regarding a community meeting to address questions and concerns. Additionally, you may call Educational Service Center North Operations at 818-654-3600.

The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council is an organization that is officially certified by the City of Los Angeles to increase our influence with City lawmakers and departments to improve our community.

The PRNC came about as a result of Los Angeles City Charter Reform and interested stakeholders in our community. The Board is elected by stakeholders and holds monthly meetings, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. The agenda is emailed to those who subscribe (see the green box in the upper corner), on our website here and posted at 11280 Corbin Avenue, Northridge, CA 91326 on a bulletin board facing Corbin street.

The Board is comprised of volunteers who want to help you make Porter Ranch a better place to live, work and grow. We can't do it for you, but we can do it with you.
