Starbucks Elevates Porter Ranch, Seeks Alcohol License
Share/Save

At the December 2014 meeting the PRNC Board voted to support Starbucks Porter Ranch request for an alcohol license to sell beer and wine for consumption on site. The matter was previously presented to the Land Use Committee in November.

Starbucks has recently expanded and remodeled the store incorporating space previously used by Bagel Bagel. The expansion effectively doubles their footprint, so that the location no longer has a cramped feel to it. The remodel was completed late October 2014 and includes furniture indoors and out. Now if they could just do something about the wind...

According to their Land Use Committee meeting presentation, Starbucks is seeking an alcohol license as they are testing the sale of alcohol in select stores. This is part of their "Evenings" program which includes drinks and food for customers seeking to relax and gather at Starbucks rather than heading to a bar or restaurant. The concept is currently being tested in Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, Chicago, and Southern California.

The Evenings menu will be available after 4pm. The elevated fare will include items that are "savory, sweet, and shareable," such as small plates of Truffle Mac & Cheese, Blue Brie & Apricot Preserves, and Parmesan-Crusted Chicken Skewers.

Coffee remains the focus of their store experience and they have no plans to add other liquor to their assortment.

There is a public hearing scheduled December 16, 11am in Van Nuys. Public Hearing Notice.
