Proposed Cell Sites in Porter Ranch
Share/Save

Sprint has contracted with Crown Castle to install seven cell sites in the west end of Porter Ranch to improve service. The proposed sites are to operated with lower radio frequency emissions and be located on existing light poles in a visually unobtrusive manner. The sites are to be located in the HOAs west of Tampan including the Porter Ranch Estates, the Heights, and Renaissance.

Cell Site Map shows the proposed locations. Red dots indicate existing cell sites. Green dots indicate proposed sites and blue dots indicated proposed sites in the right of way.

Meeting Presentation is a copy of the materials presented at our March 12, 2013 meeting including images of what the cell sites would look like.

Crown Castle has also provided this San Diego Case Study for our review.

Stakeholders inquired as to why the sites were all located on the west side of Porter Ranch and none east of Tampa. Sonny Nunez, the presenter from Crown Castle, indicated that Sprint had identified the locations based on customer/ and HOA request and if homeowners want more sites east of Tampa, they should contact Sprint.

Also questioned was whether the HOAs would receive compensation for the location of these sites in their communities. Yes, they would. Crown Castle expects that once these sites are in, other carriers would contact them to be able to use the same facilities and ultimately service would expand beyond just Sprint.

The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council is an organization that is officially certified by the City of Los Angeles to increase our influence with City lawmakers and departments to improve our community.

The PRNC came about as a result of Los Angeles City Charter Reform and interested stakeholders in our community. The Board is elected by stakeholders and holds monthly meetings, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. The agenda is emailed to those who subscribe (see the green box in the upper corner), on our website here and posted at 11280 Corbin Avenue, Northridge, CA 91326 on a bulletin board facing Corbin street.

The Board is comprised of volunteers who want to help you make Porter Ranch a better place to live, work and grow. We can't do it for you, but we can do it with you.
