The PRNC Education and Schools Committee held a lunch at Castlebay Lane Charter Elementary right before the holiday break on Friday, December 20 to thank teachers for a job well done. "We can't thank you enough for being a positive change in the lives of our students," shared Committee Chair Mihran Kalaydjian. LAUSD Board Member Scott Schmerelson was on hand bringing a Certificate of Recognition and thanked Principal Dr. Ruth Gamboa-Brooks, aka Dr. G, saying how he admired her for supporting the teachers and getting out of the way to let them do what they need to do. He commended Castlebay for having a great connection with the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council, as most schools are not in touch with their Neighborhood Council.
Dr. G for her part thanked the teachers sharing her respect for their professionalism and dedication, noting that this was their third year together and she could not have asked for better!
The lunch was particularly festive, as the teachers were dressed for Pajama Day. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal from Pagoda Inn in Porter Ranch and a slide show jam packed with tons of fun and educational activities from just this semester. The robotics club did a demonstration and the PRNC handed out roses, while the KA-band played.
Thank you to the Castlebay PATH parents organization for helping with event coordination. Thank you also to Ms. Aurora Mellado from the Superintendent of Local District Northwest Joseph Nacorda's office, to Vice Principal, David Garringer, to Castlebay photographer Elaine Woo for the photos and to PRNC Members Lori Choi and Jason Hector.
