The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council thanked the Saddleridge Fire First Responders at our March 11, 2020 Meeting and gave representatives from each agency signed Resolutions thanking them for their service. It took a huge team of responders coordinated across many agencies to save our community from the fire and we as a community and a Council are very grateful.
Whereas, the Saddleridge fire started in Sylmar on October 10, 2019, and quickly moved into Porter Ranch in the early morning hours of October 11, 2019;
Whereas, the fire forced the evacuation of all of Porter Ranch and threatened more than 17,000 homes in our community;
Whereas, at its peak, more than 1,100 City, County, and State personnel were battling the fire that burned more than 8,000 acres, destroyed 19 structures, and damaged 88 additional structures;
Whereas, the fire burned through virtually all of the City parks in our Community as fire fighters fought it from our backyards and prevented a potentially disastrous outcome;
Therefore, let it be Resolved that the Porter Ranch Neighborhood council, on behalf of the Community of Porter Ranch, extends its sincerest and most profound gratitude to all the City, County, and State fire fighters and law enforcement personnel who heroically fought the fire and protected our homes and community in our greatest time of need.
