During a crisp, clear morning at their November patriotic assembly, the students of Castlebay said thank you to the PRNC for supporting the school. In spring of 2012 the PRNC purchased an emergency sound system and technology for teachers to use in conducting individual student assessments. Teacher Sandy Dorfman led her class in the official Thank You! The PRNC is pleased to have supported Castlebay over the years with computers, digital projectors and more. PRNC support, coupled with the efforts of teachers, staff, students and parents have led Castlebay Lane Charter Elementary to increase their API score from 940 to 952 in 2012. Well Done! The state goal is 800 and the maximum number of points available is 1,000. A score of 952 puts Castlebay in the top 10 LAUSD elementary schools.

Students show off the new emergency sound system with Prinicipal Victoria Littlejohn to PRNC Board Members Dick Rippey and Shawn O'Rourke. The sound system can run on batteries and be set up in minutes. The school keeps the batteries charged and at the ready in case of emergency. The old sound system was not battery operated and took several students quite some time to set up.
