2022 PRNC Year in Review
Share/Save

In 2022 the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council brought government agencies in to our meetings to provide updates and hear stakeholder concerns on street lighting outages and the Reseda offramp closure.

The Bureau of Street Services spoke at our February meeting about the challenges in preventing copper wire theft in street lights and reducing the backlog to restore lighting. Reseda offramp sink holeThe community inquired about the timeline to restore lighting for Reseda, Wilbur and Tampa and while no timeline was offered in the meeting, we are pleased to report that lighting has been restored as of December.

The Reseda Offramp subject was a sore spot for stakeholders who grilled DOT on why nothing was done about it for so long, even though the issue had been identified at a high level some time ago. Stakeholders called for better communication and speedier coordination of the agencies involved to repair and open the ramp.

Emergency preparedness continues to be a priority for the PRNC and we were pleased to sponsor and promote the first Community Emergency Response Team training class held at the Vineyards Community Room. This class provided our residents the opportunity to train for free with our LAFD on how to treat life threatening emergencies, fire suppression, evacuation and search techniques and more.

PRNC President Gabriel Khanlian and Board Member Hilda Sarkisyan were among the graduates. "I highly recommend taking the CERT class and learning how to help your community in a disaster, when few other resources will be available. Be prepared!" said Khanlian.

Events

The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council is an organization that is officially certified by the City of Los Angeles to increase our influence with City lawmakers and departments to improve our community.

The PRNC came about as a result of Los Angeles City Charter Reform and interested stakeholders in our community. The Board is elected by stakeholders and holds monthly meetings, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. The agenda is emailed to those who subscribe (see the green box in the upper corner), on our website here and posted at 11280 Corbin Avenue, Northridge, CA 91326 on a bulletin board facing Corbin street.

The Board is comprised of volunteers who want to help you make Porter Ranch a better place to live, work and grow. We can't do it for you, but we can do it with you.
