Councilman Englander Assists with Palisades Park Signs
Wednesday, September 7, 2011
During the spring and summer of 2011 there was a problem with the Palisades Park along Breamore with illegal late night activity. The Police Departments “Vice” unit has been coming up to the park and citing those who break the law and enter the Park after it closes.
Unfortunately, some of the citations have been tossed out of court due to the “lack of signs” that indicate that the Park is closed from “Sunset to Sunrise”. Due to budget cuts it was almost impossible to get the twelve additional signs needed to get the Park in compliance with making citations by the Police.
At the “Movies in the Park” in July, community activist Mike Dobry approached Councilman Mitchell Englander to see if he could help. As a LAPD Reserve Officer, Councilman Englander realized the importance of the signs and was aware of the ongoing problem in the area. Mr. Dobry was extremely happy when the Councilman said he would help. The signs were made and installed in weeks! The LAPD “Vice” unit at Devonshire Police Station was informed and patrols have resumed at that location.
The Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council thanks Mike Dobry for taking action on this and thanks Councilman Mitchell Englander for his efforts and insight to a unseen quality of life issue we have in this area.
