The Porter Ranch Beautification Committee completed a big project this summer to remove dead trees and brush resulting from the 2008 Sesnon Fire. The fire swept down Limekiln Canyon and jumped Tampa to burn trees along the east side of Tampa at the Wilbur Tampa Park. Some of the trees rebounded but many did not and the dead trunks have been an eyesore and a fire danger. 

The PRNC was glad to fund this important beautification project with $10,000 for crews to work for three days to clear trees and brush. Work was completed on the north end of Limekiln, heading down from Sesnon, along the trail and Tampa. Dead trees were also cleared from the Limekiln Canyon area near Rinaldi and the west side of the Wilbur Tampa Park along Tampa. 

The Beautification Committee worked with Recreation and Parks and other departments in the time consuming effort to secure permits to complete this work. This project was a follow on project to our effort in 2018 to remove 22 dead trees and stumps as well as removing dead wood on another 35 diseased and dying trees along Tampa, Rinaldi, and Porter Valley Drive.
